G.50bis of Sergente Maggiore Aldo Buvoli (6 kills), 378°Squadriglia, 155° Gruppo Autonomo, Castel Benito,9 July 1941.

Featuring a yellow engine cowling, which was synonymouswith this period (March-October 1941), Buvoli's Fiat is painted
in a mixed camouflage scheme of Verde and Giallo Mimetico. As with most G.50s, the white tail cross extends over its fin
and rudder. Buvoli took-off alone in this aircraft on the evening of 9 July 1941 to patrol over Tripoli harbour, and duly
intercepted seven Blenheims sent to attack shipping in the area. Diving on the bombers as they performed a low-level
attack on the port, he chased the formation out to sea, firing at each one of them in sequence. Buvoli was subsequently
credited with four kills. No 110 Sqn reporting the loss of a similar number of Blenheim IVs on its very first mission since
arriving in Malta from the UK in early July.

Fiat Cr.42 flown by Ten.(Lt.)Mario Visintini (17 kills) CO 412° Squadriglia Autonoma December 1940.

Visintini was biplane's ace of aces in Regia Aereonautica. On 11 February Visintini claimed a Hurricane over Keren. This claim was probably made in combat with Hurricanes from 1 SAAF Squadron, which had 11 aircraft on patrols over the area during the day. Two of them encountered three CR.42s, which dived away in thick cloud. Lieutenant S. de K. Viljoen followed and failed to return. Running low on fuel, he had to land near a village, within territory in British hands. He obtained petrol, and attempted to take off next morning, but crashed. He returned to Agordat on foot. His aircraft was later recovered and repaired.
It seems that Viljoen had chased aircraft from 412a Squadriglia, engaged in strafing British troops in front of Keren. Two of these fighters flown by Sergente Maggiore Lugi Baron and another pilot, force-landed at a forward landing strip due to bad weather.
Later on the day Visintini took off to fly back to guide these pilots home. It seems that during the flight he was however blown off course by high winds and while descending through clouds he crashed into the side of Mount Nefasit and was instantly killed
